The Society of Professional Journalists’ board of directors voted Sunday to increase membership dues effective in January.

The increase won’t exceed $4 annually, depending upon the type of membership.

Also Sunday, members elected new leadership, including John Ensslin of the Record in New Jersey as president.

The dues increase has been debated for six months by the board and is the first since 2002.

The approved annual rates are as follows: $75, professional; $37.50, retired, household, post-graduate; $94, associate.

At the Region 6 meeting Sunday, Twin Cities television producer Amanda Theisen was elected to another two-year term.

Theisen announced the Region 6 conference will take place in the Twin Cities on March 30 and 31.
